Dutch Baseball Beats Hastings 7-1, Loses to Loy Norrix 6-3 in Holland Quad

The Holland Dutch hosted a Quad with Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Covenant Christian, and Hastings on Saturday, with the winners playing each other in game two. Game one between Loy Norrix and Covenant Christian was won by Loy Norrix 10-0 after five innings. The other game one between the Dutch and the Hastings Saxons resulted in the Dutch's second win of the season, by the score of 7-1. Senior Cody Rozema spun a gem on the mound after entering in the second inning. He pitched the last six innings on 64 pitches, striking out seven and allowing only five hits. He also led the Dutch on offense, going 2-4 with a triple, run scored, and RBI. Junior Damian Arispe also had a day at the plate, going 2-4 with two singles, a run scored, and an RBI. In Game two, the Dutch took on the Loy Norrix Knights, but were out hit en route to a 6-3 loss. On the mound, Senior Gabe Bos went 3 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on five hits and two walks. He also struck out two. Junior Xavier Murphy pitched the remaining 3 2/3 allowing two earned on three hits and a walk. Xavier also had his day at the plate, going 2-2 with a double, run scored, and a walk. Sophomore Asher Folkert also drove a triple to the right-center gap for his second on the year. In the consolation game, Covenant Christian beat Hastings 19-3. The Dutch are 2-9 on the season and remain 1-8 in the OK Black. They host Hamilton on Tuesday at 4:00 PM for a conference double header.
