The Holland varsity softball team Hosted their own Invitational over the weekend at Matt Urban complex. Holland finished pool play 1-2 on the day. The Dutch lost to Kalamazoo Loy Norrix in game 1, bounced back to beat Saugatuck in game 2, and lost to pool play champion Grose Point South in the final game of the day. Addyson Hill picked up her first win of the season defeating Saugatuck 20-5 in 3 innings. ''Overall, we played pretty well today. We started out slow, digging ourselves a big hole in the first inning of game one, but after that, we competed throughout the day. There was some really good softball going on throughout the day. We had some exceptional teams competing in this tournament and it was good for our girls to see the many different levels of competition. The 4 teams in the upper division are currently ranked in the top 15 in the state. We face Unity this coming week, which is currently ranked 3rd in division 2, and I can't wait to see how respond," coach Hill said. The Dutch drop to 1-11 on the season. They will host Hamiton on Tuesday and travel to Unity Christian on Thursday to continue conference play.
