On Monday night, Holland hosted conference foe and defending state champion Spring Lake and lost 3-1. Holland was down 1-0 after the half, but senior Ashley Saldana struck from outside the box to tie up the score. Holland conceded two more times despite their tremendous effort. "Spring Lake plays with speed and precision," said Holland coach Greg Ceithaml. "Despite their quality, I was very proud of our effort and intensity. We fought to the final whistle." The game was dedicated to former Holland player Gabbie Hosta, who tragically passed away last fall. A scholarship fund for the Holland Soccer Camp for young players in financial need was established in her name. Holland is now 4-7 and travels to Hamilton on Wednesday. In JV action, the Holland JV lost to Spring Lake 4-0.
